Sunday Group Runs

We meet for our very organized Sunday morning group runs bright and early (and in any kind of weather) at the Leonardo First Aid Station (aka "The Clubhouse"!)

Our groups generally run from 6 to 15 miles (sometimes farther!) at various paces.

Start time is 8am from Labor Day thru Memorial Day, then 7am for the Summer.

These are our long slow, steady training runs.

The course can be hilly, or flat (if you run along the Henry Hudson Trail), and the main course is shaded and scenic with a mix of paved and gravel surfaces, as well as routes through Huber Woods and Hartshorne Woods on rough dirt trails.

Water and bathrooms are available at the Clubhouse and on the course (about every 2 miles).

The water stops are being put out by the same valiant volunteers every Sunday--HELP IS WELCOME!  Please contact the Hotline or send us an email via our Contact Us page.

About once a month a 20-mile training run is scheduled (The Start time for the 20-Miler is one hour earlier.)

After each Sunday Run light refreshments are available such as fresh fruit, bagels from The Hot Bagel Bakery of Oakhurst and pastries courtesy of Ye Olde Pie Shop and Bosco's Buddies.

Directions to our Clubhouse

From Sandy Hook, take Hwy. 36 toward the Garden State Parkway (GSP), turn right onto Thompson Ave.* in Leonardo and left onto Viola. The station will be on your left.

From GSP Exit 117, go about 8 miles and take the Hosford jughandle (just past Academy Bus on your right), turning back onto 36 going in the opposite direction, and follow the above directions.

* Note that if you are coming from the GSP Exit 117, you will see another Thompson Ave. in Keansburg.  (This is not the one you want!)
