The 6th Annual New Jersey Shore Marathon Weekend was MARVELOUS!! (Wet, but marvelous...)
Thanks to all who volunteered!

Here's why we enjoy staging
all of our events!
Dear Club Members of NJRRC,
You always put on a great trail race.
Thanks for all the water stops I needed them on this warm spring like day. The
refreshments are always tremendous. Thanks again for a well run classy race. The chowda
was super, I like the tortellini in the soup. Because I did not have
extra money for the food bank, I will send you some money soon.
You all need a great round of applause! I will see you at the next
race. Also the ribbons for the slain victims of 911 was a wonderful tribute at the
December run.
God Bless you all. Your Running Friend,
Todd Richter
| Holiday Running....
Our Christmas and
New Year's Day runs were cold but fun, with terrific French Toast and banana muffins to
feast on afterwards; (thanks to Chef "Boy-Art-C"!) |
Special congrats to
the Millennium 2000K+2 runners, who completed a year of running with the 12-mile
Celebration Run on Sunday, 12/30! |
The Hartshorne Woods Autumn's End Trail Run
There were 348
participants in this most special of Trail Runs that honored the heroes of 9-11.
From a participant....
"YOU DID A GREAT JOB" on this race. The firefighter relief fund was definitely a
good cause. The personal name tags for each of the firemen lost was a unique way for each
of us runners to be more involved in the race. I plan to wear my fireman's tag each race I
do in 2002. The opening ceremony should be the way ALL races should be started. And lastly
you satisfied my hunger with the excellent "vegetable chouder". Great job,
keep it up, I'll be coming back often." Bill Malone
Each Autumn's
End Trail Run will now benefit the NY Firefighters 9-11 Relief Fund in honor of
Cpt. John Fischer, Ladder 20.
R2C6--Three NJRRC Teams had a Blast!

It was
a day of cameraderie and challenges for our three teams at the 92-mile River-to-Sea Relay. Congrats to all! |

The No Frills... All Hills 5K, July 28th
Over 90 runners came out on a pleasant Saturday
morning for a chance to earn an "I Survived the No Frills-All Hills 5K" T-shirt
and, more importantly, to meet the guest-of-honor, Bernie McCauley. The start of the race was held up by the aforementioned Bernie,
who was stuck in line for the porta-john, but once on the course, runners were treated to
encouraging signs such as "What goes down must come back up" (this on the steep
hill leading to the water's edge) and the music of Abba blasting from a boombox; (enough
to make anyone run faster!)
For top ten results click and Special Awards, click here.Shown are Bernie McCauley (the big guy) and the winner of
the Bernie McCauley award (who almost beat him!)
From a NJRRC
member:
"We had so much fun doing the race on Saturday!
The course was hard. I'm glad--we got a great workout!
...We always feel wonderful after we run with the
NJRRC. The members of the Club make you feel like you can accomplish whatever you
set out to do!!!" |
